Business meetings allowed 13 out of 52 weeks

No work permit is required for foreigners coming to the Netherlands for business meetings or the concluding of contracts.

Before 1 January 2014 this was allowed for a maximum of 28 days in 12 weeks. By change of law on 1 January 2014 this period was stretched to 13 weeks in 52 weeks, where mistakenly and not by purpose was added the condition that this period had to ‘uninterrupted’. This addition implicated that only 1 business meeting was allowed per year, without the condition of a work permit. In practise, also after 1 January 2014 the old regulation was still in place. As of 18 July 2015 this error has been amended. Business meetings are, as of 18 July 2015 also by law, allowed for a period of 13 weeks in 52 weeks, be it interrupted or not. This change is a welcome clarification.
